Fried Egg Jellyfish
Phacellophora camschatica

An unusual visitor, a large jellyfish pulsates through
the waters off La Jolla, California.

The bell of this species reaches 24 inches in width; the
thin tentacles can stretch for 20 feet or more!  The
visible portion in the photo above is about 4'-5' long.
